Dukung Wisata Komodo, Telkomsel Tambah 5 BTS di Labuan Bajo
PT Telkomsel, mewujudkan komitmennya membangun daerah-daerah terpencil melalui pembangunan sarana komunikasi. Salah satu daerah yang mendapat prioritas itu kata Vice President PT Telkomsel Area Jawa-Bali, Gilang Prasetya, adalah Kabupaten Manggarai Barat, NTT.
"Tahun ini kita akan membangun lima BTS tambahan di daerah yang terkenal dengan pariwisata Komodo itu," kata Gilang, pada wartawan di Labuan Bajo, akhir pekan lalu.
Gilang berkunjung ke Labuan Bajo yang menjadi ibukota Manggarai Barat, dalam rangka road show Telkomsel di kawasan Pulau Flores. Selain bertujuan melihat peluang pasar, kunjungan itu juga dimaksudkan untukmemantau kekuatan sinyal jaringan Telkomsel di kawasan itu. Untuk peluang pasar seluler, diakui Gilang, Pulau Flores sangat menjanjikan.
Namun menurut Gilang, pembangunan lima BTS Telkomsel di Manggarai Barat, lebih banyak didasarkan pada semangat nasionalisme, bukan semata-mata mencari untung. Saat ini jelas Gilang yang didampingi GM SCS Telkomsel Bali Nusra, Syaiful Bahri, di kawasan Labuan Bajo Telkomsel sudah memiliki 10 BTS, namun dengan pertumbuhan trafik yang cukup pesat, diperlukan tambahan kapasitas maupun BTS-nya. "Kita ingin masyarakat Labuan Bajo, bisa berkomunikasi menggunakan Telkomsel dengan nyaman," katanya.
Road show jajaran Telkomsel di Pulau Flores berlangsung empat hari, dengan mengunjungi delapan kabupaten di Pulau itu. Di Kabupaten Manggarai Barat yang mendapat kunjungan paling terakhir, Gilang dan jajaran Telkomsel lainnya, menyempatkan berkunjung ke sejumlah objek wisata, seperti Pulau Komodo, Pulau Rinca, dan Pulau Bidadari.
Pada kunjungan itu, tim Telkomsel juga memberikan sejumlah bantuan kepada masyarakat, di Desa Macang Tanggar, Kecamatan Komodo, Kabupaten Manggarai Barat. Bantuan juga diberikan kepada sejumlah pemandu wisata Taman Nasional Komodo di Pulau Rinca.
Menurut GM SCS Telkomsel Bali Nusra, Syaiful Bahri, penggunaan jaringan Telkomsel di Pulau Flores sudah mencapai 90 persen dari kapasitas. Dia menilai hal itu sudah berbahaya, karena pada jam-jam tertentu, yakni saat trafik semakin sibuk sinyalnya sangat sulit. Alternatifnya Telkomsel akan membangun BTS baru, termasuk kemungkinan BTS kecil di sejumlah pulau kecil.
Sementara itu, Bupati Manggarai Barat Fidelis Pranda mengatakan, kehadiran operator-operator seluler di wilayahnya, sangat dirasakan dalam mendukung pembangunan di kawasan itu. Karena dengan adanya sarana komunikasi yang lancar sambungnya, daerah-daerah yang selama ini terisolasi akan lebih mudah berkomunikasi. "Kalau komunikasi sudah lancar, pembangunan ekonomi pasti lancar pula," kata Fidelis.
Saat menerima kunjungan tim Telkomsel di kediamannya, Fidelis menjanjikan membantu pertumbuhan dan kelancaran usaha Telkomsel di Manggarai Barat. Apalagi sambungnya, masyarakat Manggarai Barat, memang sangat memerlukan sarana komunikasi untuk memperlancar usahanya.
Dikatakan Fidelis, masyarakat Manggarai Barat kini mulai menggandrungi HP, antara lain terlihat dari pertumbuhan toko-toko penjual HP dan konter-konter penjual pulsanya. Bahkan sebut Fidelis, dia mendengar pengakuan sejumlah penjual pulsa Telkomsel, mereka bisa membeli perahu penangkap ikan dari hasil berjualan pulsa.
